TruYou: truth, made personal
A side build exploring what an AI looks like when it has the nerve to say no, and whether the answer is true for you.
The AI tools we use don’t lie to us. They just never say no. They average everything they have found, soften the edges, and hand it back as guidance. We get a maybe dressed up as an answer.
TruYou starts from a different premise. An AI that says no when the claim doesn’t hold up. An AI that says no when the claim holds up but isn’t right for you. Two ways to be honest, both rare on the internet today.
The persona
Nirvi is 27, from Hyderabad, and deliberate about everything she puts on and in her body. She researches before she buys: Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, AI tools. She has warm undertones, higher melanin, and skin that most mainstream beauty products weren’t formulated for. Her best friend’s wedding is three months away, and she wants to get it right.
The problem
The reviews she reads are from people with different skin. The AI tools she asks don’t lie to her, they just never say no. They average everything and hand it back as guidance. She gets a maybe dressed up as an answer, and she still doesn’t know what’s actually true, or whether it’s true for her.
The solution
Nirvi is at the store. She opens TruYou, scans a product, and gets a verdict in seconds. One scan says buy it. One says skip it, the claim doesn’t hold up. One says the product is real, but it’s not right for her skin and her timeline. Two of the three answers are no. That’s the point.
What verified truth looks and feels like
The internet isn’t just noisy. It’s full of information designed to look like truth. Brand claims, optimized reviews, AI answers that average everything and call it guidance. TruYou is the truth filter. It stress-tests every claim until only what’s defensible survives.
The design’s job is to be a clear channel between that verified truth and the user. Verified truth should look like nothing is in the way. No branding, no noise, no layer trying to make it feel trustworthy. Just the signal, clean. And when that signal reaches the user, it finds their shape. Their skin, their goals, their timeline. The truth is fixed. The experience is theirs.
Canvas
Deep warm near-black. No cards, no borders, no box shadows. Content sits directly on the canvas. Atmospheric gradient washes carry the section breaks instead of drawn lines. Everything that doesn’t need to exist has been removed, so the verdict has nothing to compete with.
Typography
Plus Jakarta Sans. Chosen because it has no agenda. It doesn’t try to say anything about the brand. It just carries the words cleanly so nothing competes with what Pulse is actually saying. One weight at a time per screen. No typographic decoration.
Color
A single peach accent for the things that matter: the user’s name, Pulse’s keywords, the positive verdict. Purple for the killshot. Nothing else competes. The color system is sparse by design, so when a color appears, it means something. The verdict colors aren’t branding. They’re information.
Motion
Calm, deliberate, unhurried. No bouncing. No spring animations competing for attention. The orb breathes. The face scan tags pin quietly to skin features. The verdict fades in. Motion communicates state, not personality. The one exception is the scan moment, where animation carries the full weight of demonstrating that Pulse has seen you. That’s earned.
Pulse
Pulse isn’t a character with a name badge and a personality deck. It’s an abstract entity, almost like the user’s own instinct made visible. The orb takes a warm peach tone close to human skin, not to be clever, but because the whole product is about what’s true for you specifically. The color connects Pulse to the user, not to the brand. It is the clearest expression of the philosophy: the signal is clean, and it finds the shape of whoever is holding it.
Voice
All lowercase. Periods. No exclamation points. No emoji. Short sentences, single thoughts. Pulse doesn’t perform warmth. It is warm, the way a person is warm when they’re not trying. When Pulse says less, it means more.
The test
Read the screen with no copy. Does it still feel like TruYou? If yes, the design is doing its job. The copy supports. The interface speaks first.
